The nug will be more or less instant-dead from the Blight — like it might manage a few wheezing nug-ghoul breaths at most before it dies — and the portions of the stick and harness that went into the rift will be coated in taint like a mold, which spread up/down the stick very slowly, but not so slowly it isn't visible to the naked eye.
