Holly Lastname | Canon | Christmas in Snow Falls

PLAYER

Name: Hope
Age: Thirtysomething
Contact: asyndeton@plurk
Other Characters: Byerly, Tertia
Interests: I'm interested in digging into the war aspects of this game setting. Holly is going to come into game with a lot of Christmas spirit - it seems like bringing this Christmas spirit to bear on the overarching war plot could actually bring the war to an end and move the game into a new phase. So this is likely to be my most plot-involved, political character.

CHARACTER

Name: Holly Lastname
Canon/OC: Canon (from Christmas in Snow Falls)
Canon Point: Near the end of the movie, immediately after starting her big presentation but before she's repeated the thing her dad told her that her dead mom used to say that's going to trigger her understanding of what really matters in life
Journal: midlife_christmas
Age: 27

Canon World

Snow Falls is a town that has it all - puffy vests, hats with pom-poms, a thriving Christmas market, paper cups that are unable to hold any liquid. It's bustling, except it sort of feels kind of empty at the same time? Like, there aren't many people in the background at any given time. The Big City is very similar, in that it also is strangely deserted, but the Big City also doesn't have puffy vests or hats with pom-poms or Christmas markets. It does still have liquid-free coffee cups though.

Neither the Big City nor Snow Falls have ever seen real snow.

History

-Had a childhood.
-Left for the Big City for a reason. There, ended up having a career that takes up all her time. She buys Christmas trees for corporate events - big, perfect Christmas trees that several people look at and smile and nod.
-Her mom is dead. Her mom left her a tin mug with a Christmas tree on it. Whenever Holly drinks hot cocoa from this mug, she murmurs, "Oh, Mom. I miss you."
-Her dad is alive. He has folksy wisdom. He supports her in whatever she does, but does wish she'd come home. He does not come visit her in the Big City.
-She lands a big account that needs a Christmas tree for the Big City's Central Square. They approach her about getting this Christmas tree five days before the Christmas tree lighting, which will be internationally televised.
-The perfect Christmas tree is at home in Snow Falls. So she has to go back to get it. But while she's there, she reconnects with her childhood sweetheart who talks to her about small-town life. She has never kissed this man. It is possible she has never kissed any man. She does not know whether to go back to the Big City or stay in Snow Falls.

Personality

None to speak of

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths:
-Ability to connect with children and animals
-Extremely strong, straight teeth
-Hair that is very smooth until it hits shoulder level at which point it transforms into loose curls
-Tinkly music in her background
-Dead mom (gives her strength)

Weaknesses:
-Has a career
-Falls down a lot with a comical "whoop!" noise
-Trouble finding the right guy

Suggested Nerfs

Probably no nerfs necessary -- her teleportation powers only are accessible to her when there's a news report running/someone's about to get married/someone's about to go on a trip and she needs to get back to confess feelings in the nick of time

Arrival Inventory

Tin mug
Thermos of hot cocoa
No cell phone (she dropped it into the town well in act 1)
Hat with pom-pom

Humanization

Already human

Fit

As mentioned in the start of my application, Holly will bring a new dimension to the war against Corypheus. There will be some sort of situation in which the war effort is getting in the way of her getting back to her childhood sweetheart in time and then the war will be resolved. A man who may or may not be the real Santa Claus will show the Venatori the error of their ways.
