APPROVED + NOTES

WELCOME

Your application has been approved, with the following notes:
↠ John's psychic sight can still function in Thedas to alert him to persons/creatures possessed by demons or spirits in essentially the same way it worked for him in canon. It may also be able to show him some sort of hint of the "true form" of rifters who were humanized on arrival (or "Thedosianized" as the case may be), but this will not work consistently and will be up to the rifter's player to opt in. He will not have any type of ESP, but if he gets lucky at cards he can think so anyway.

↠ We're open to allowing John to keep some of his magic in Thedas, but the canon ability you've described sounds extremely expansive and lacking in clear limits. To avoid holding up RP while we OOCly hash out how it will work, since that's something he'll need to figure out IC as well, we'll approve now that John can have some latent magical ability in Thedas, but in order for him to figure out how to use it, you'll need to submit draft specs to us for approval. Specs are sets of 5-8 specific abilities (count varying based on how powerful each is), similar in scope and utility to abilities in the DA video games. You can submit up to three specs in total, and don't have to submit them all at once--you could do one now with John's core magical capabilities to get him started, and then submit others down the road as he learns more.

↠ These abilities will be subject to two standard rules of magic in Thedas: 1. the act of doing magic will draw from a finite amount of personal energy, meaning even if he's not otherwise physically active, doing magic will still wipe him out, more quickly the more powerful the spell is. 2. Spells acting on others almost always require line of sight.

↠ John's pocket contents will all come through as mundane objects, i.e. a piece of bone is just a piece of bone like any other as far as anyone can tell. If we later approve magic that can make use of these mundane objects, they'll still be usable for that purpose.

Since your character is arriving via rift, you're welcome to post a rift arrival log or to begin RP in the Gallows and simply handwave that members of Riftwatch met your character on their arrival through the rift, helped them close it, and brought them to Kirkwall.
