As a note, we'd like part of the explanation for the effectiveness of Antonio's rune to be that he's half-dwarven -- resistant enough to magic that the lyrium used in the rune won't kill him, whereas it might kill a human/elf/qunari, but vulnerable enough to magic that it can affect him, whereas it wouldn't affect a full-blooded dwarf. That will build in an extra barrier to replicating it for anyone else.

Additionally, we wanted to recommend using an anchor shard for Antonio's original injury. Similar to the shrapnel from canon, this could not be removed or fully healed by any healer, which would also make Antonio's condition and solution of interest to the Inquisition and open up some potential plot and CR avenues for you. Antonio's rune could still be what's preventing the anchor from killing him. In that case, Antonio's injury could have come about due to a rift opening nearby and he could have been set upon by bandits afterwards, or he could have been captured and acquired an anchor shard while the bandits were transporting him somewhere.

This suggestion is entirely optional! We just thought it was an option you may not have considered. If you'd like to use that idea, you're welcome to revise your application to include it without needing us to review it a second time. But if you'd prefer to stick with the standard injury and rune, that's fine as well.
