TIMELINE
M: MOD PLOTS / O: OPERATIONS / P: PLAYER PLOTS / B: BACKGROUND INFORMATION
9:41 | |
KINGSWAY | |
[B] | The Herald of Andraste dies while closing the Breach over the Temple of Sacred Ashes. In the aftermath, Corypheus attacks with a combined force of Red Templars and mages. The Inquisition escapes Haven and makes its way to Skyhold. |
HARVESTMERE | |
[M] | During efforts to recover the Herald's body in Haven's wreckage, an Inquisition team witnesses strangers falling from a new rift along with the usual demons. The new arrivals—each of whom has a small sliver of an anchor in their hand--are escorted back to Skyhold along with the Herald's remains, which are notably missing a hand. |
FIRSTFALL | |
[M] | While contemplating the way forward without the Herald, the Inquisition sends forces into the Fallow Mire to recover a lost unit and look into the local plague. |

WINTERMARCH | |
[M] | The Inquisition moves troops into Emprise du Lion to investigate reports of Red Lyrium and Red Templars. Due to the Inquisition's early action, the mining operation is stymied before it can be made fully operational. |
[P] | A rift is opened within Skyhold, causing damage to a courtyard before the demons are dispatched and the rift closed again. Rumors abound, but it's eventually learned that a native mage with an anchor shard opened the rift accidentally. An investigation ensues. She is monitored, but not punished. |
DRAKONIS | |
[P] | During Cassandra's investigation into the rift opened in Skyhold, a rifter implies that she might be capable of opening rifts intentionally and refuses to promise not to. She is imprisoned, and an investigation into all those with anchor-shards follows, with particular scrutiny of rifters. Leliana disagrees with Cassandra's methods, and the situation remains tense until others intervene on the rifter's behalf. |
[P] | While the Inquisition prioritizes Red Lyrium, Nathaniel Howe leads a group to the Western Approach and captures Magister Erimond in an attempt to slow the corruption of the Grey Wardens. |
[P] | In response to rumors that the Inquisition's founders were behind the attack on the Conclave, Josephine and Imperial Enchanter Vivienne host a soiree at Skyhold. A number of Orlesian nobles attend, and most leave with a positive impression. |
[P] | Morrigan learns that her eluvian has been waylaid on its journey to Skyhold. An Inquisition team ventures into the Hinterlands and manages to find and recapture it from the forces of Corypheus. |
CLOUDREACH | |
[M] | An artifact beneath Skyhold causes many in the fortress to become sick as well as able to see and hear through the Veil to people on the other side. Recovering the artifact ends the illness. |
BLOOMINGTIDE | |
[M] | The Inquisition pursues the Grey Wardens into the Western Approach and finds they have already left Adamant Fortress. While the bulk of the Inquisition's forces remain there to focus on defeating the Nightmare Demon—and are sucked into the Fade for their trouble—a smaller team goes to Weisshaupt Fortress to investigate and barely escapes with their lives, as well as the lives of a dozen baby griffons, when the First Warden and those loyal to him enact a coup d'etat in the Anderfels. |
[P] | An Inquisition team identifies and apprehends an Antivan merchant prince who has been working with the Venatori and selling them slaves. He and his Orlesian noble accomplice are captured and returned to Skyhold for interrogation. |
JUSTINIAN | |
[P] | Leliana is poisoned by assassins who leave a message condemning her radical views and the Inquisition as a rogue organization. A team tracks the culprits to Orlais, infiltrates a noblewoman's salon, and catches several members of the Thorns of the Rose, a group of Chantry extremists. Another team hunts down an antidote for the obscure poison, saving the advisor's life. |
SOLACE | |
[M] | The Inquisition moves forces into the countryside surrounding Halamshiral to begin attempting to stabilize the region and Orlais' politics. |
[P] | A team led by the Wardens travels into the Deep Roads to obscure the known path to the prison of Lusacan, one of the two remaining Old Gods, and prevent Corypheus or corrupt Wardens from reaching and potentially waking him. |
AUGUST | |
[P] | A team kills a large party of Red Templars harassing Orlesian forces and recovers intel regarding red lyrium shipping operations. |
KINGSWAY | |
[O] | A reconnaissance team goes back to the Anderfels to attempt to learn more about the situation there. They confirm that the First Warden is ruling and the king is most likely dead. They also see evidence of darkspawn infected with Red Lyrium and, on their way out, rescue/kidnap the Anderfels' young prince. This information is not publicized outside the Inquisition. |
[O] | Intelligence gleaned from past efforts allows a team to capture a shipment of red lyrium just before delivery to Antiva, and free the slaves carried with it. Additional documents regarding the red lyrium smuggling operation are recovered. |
[O] | Representatives meet with a Revered Mother in Orlais who has been decrying the Inquisition as a rogue organization harboring demons and apostates, and has managed to rally others to her side. The Inquisition agents manage to quiet many of her most pressing concerns through calm conversation and closing a local rift. While by no means an ally, Revered Mother Beatrice does stop making public speeches against the Inquisition. |
[P] | A party of anchor-bearing Inquisition agents is captured in a Venatori ambush and subjected to experimentation. When rescued, it is learned that the Venatori are attempting to create and control anchor-bearers of their own. Most of the Venatori are killed, and documents are recovered hinting at additional test subjects held at an undisclosed location. |
HARVESTMERE | |
[M] | Raleigh Samson, leader of Corypheus' Red Templar forces, is captured enroute to the southern reaches of Orlais and placed in holding indefinitely. |
[P] | Merrill's eluvian is recaptured from Kirkwall and safely delivered to Skyhold, thwarting Venatori attempts to steal the artifact for their use in service of Corypheus. |
[P] | A team sent to Crestwood uncovers a slaving ring, brings those responsible to justice, and reports back about a new rift opened beneath the local lake. |
FIRSTFALL | |
[O] | An Inquisition team, with Warden assistance, travels to the ancient prison in the Vinmark Mountains where Grey Wardens held Corypheus captive for centuries. They recover a number of artifacts which are returned to Skyhold for study in hopes they will yield some clue to the Elder One's defeat. |
[O] | A team re-takes Caer Bronach in Crestwood, defeating the bandits that occupied it and clearing the way for future Inquisition efforts to close the rift beneath the lake. |
9:43 | |
WINTERMARCH | |
[M] | Celene and Gaspard finally agree to attempt peace talks during the Grand Ball in Halamshiral; the Inquisition is invited to provide (theoretically) impartial security. Elven collaborators allow Freemen of the Dales into the palace, but guards and Inquisition forces fend them off. Afterwards, Celene has Gaspard executed on evidence he helped coordinate the attack and while questions linger, the civil war officially ends. Celene solidifies her hold on the throne, and raises her elven servant (and rumored lover) Briala to Marquise of the Dales. |
GUARDIAN | |
[M] | A spell gone wrong transports ten Inquisition agents five years into the future, where they witness a world in which Corypheus has nearly succeeded in conquering Thedas. With the help of a heroic last stand by the few remaining survivors of the Inquisition, the team is returned to the present day, where they're able to provide the Inquisition with some frightening intelligence regarding events to come. |
CLOUDREACH | |
[M] | Given their evolving priorities and the information received from the time travelers, the Inquisition decides to set up an outpost in the North. While most rulers are reluctant to grant the Inquisition a foothold given its recent meddling in Orlesian politics, Acting Viscount Bran of Kirkwall is persuaded to allow them to set up a base, but only in the notorious Gallows. After clearing the grounds of red lyrium (and ending the hauntings that go with it) Inquisition forces move into the new base. |
