Riftwatch is a small, independent outfit that has to see to its own organization and oversight, which means the leadership team consists entirely of player characters. There are no vague veteran NPCs with more experience than our own characters directing things from above. So even if your character is afraid of leading or has never led anything before, you should definitely apply for a leadership role.

If you're interested in applying for an IC leadership position, review this page first: it includes the expectations and some general guidelines for each type of role. Then copy and complete the appropriate form and post it as a reply to this entry. Applications are screened.

IC leaders will be selected by the mods, with new appointments chosen at the start of every month. Please check the Calendar for upcoming deadlines and this list for current vacancies. In making our decisions on leadership applications, we take into account the following factors:

• Recent & historical activity levels
  
• IC suitability, including leadership ability and relevant expertise/experience
  
• OOC suitability, such as plot proactivity and a history of playing well with others
  
• OOC application responses/agreement to the requirements

Each player can have a maximum of two characters in IC leadership positions. Only one of those positions can be a Division Head. If you submit multiple applications for more roles than the rules would allow you to have, make sure you specify your order of preference.

If you're interested in your character taking charge of something with a finite goal, you can propose a project for them to lead. Project leaders don't count toward the two-leader maximum.
