If the advisors won't allow it, we'll work out alternatives to allow her to continue pursuing it—for example, she could set up a "lab" outside the walls somewhere, though in any case taking preventative measures against it taking root and spreading will be required. Keeping it contained in metal boxes with some ambiguous (we trust you) magical runic warding should do the trick to keep it from infesting the area, though the lyrium will still weaken the veil and be a risk for those working with it.
As for what she'll be able to discover, we like the physiological theory you told us about previously, but it will (obviously) need to be more difficult to describe and understand given Thedas' current level of understanding of physiology in general.
