Sorry if this question has been asked and I'd missed it! Asking it in a public place in the event that it applies to potential rifter applicants with magical abilities!

Several characters have suggested Hermione learn how to wield a staff. I know it had already been said that she can't learn Thedosian magic since she can't draw from the Fade, but would she be able to use the staff as a magical focus, in lieu of her wand? Would anything of note happen when she first picks up a staff and tries to use it? Or would it just be a big clumsy stick to her?
