As for the prosthetic, it would be theoretically possible for a mage to animate an inanimate object that way, similar to how they're able to lift boulders and so on. However, it would require a lot of dedicated practice to master anything resembling realistic fine motor control, and doing so continuously would require constant focus and use of energy/mana, which would, for example, mean the spells that the mage could cast while also controlling the prosthetic would be more limited and he would run out of juice more quickly. (If you've played the games or others like them, think of it as a sustained effect.) So the bottom line is yes, you can do a moving prosthetic to stand in for a robot hand, but we would want there to be realistic drawbacks and limitations as a result.
