CHARACTER

Name: Aleksei Ar Waslyna O Bearhold
Race: Human
Nationality: Avvar
Mage?: No
Age: 30ish
Affiliation: Yevdokiya
Occupation: Petty criminal
Goal: Voice testing, maybe a promotion to full time, maybe not, we'll see! Mostly just into playing someone who doesn't have big ambitions or give a fuck about anything outside of his very narrow set of interests.
About: Aleksei holds many Avvar traditions close to his heart. He was raised in a sprawling clan, headed by matriarchs, in the harsh environment of the Frostbacks, and even though the course of his life has taken him in a very different direction, that upbringing has left marks on him. He worships the old gods of the Alamarri, believes that their favor is worth courting. He's never lived in one place longer than a few months. His ambitions are small, but he strives to leave a mark, to attain some small glory that he can carry back to his clan. (If that glory is like, doing a really great job at stealing stuff, who can object?) The only oaths he's ever made are to his sister and his parents, to protect Yevdokiya and to honor their clan, and while he interprets them in interesting and inventive ways, he always strives to live up to that.

While his life of petty crime is partly about being able to send supplies and provisions to their clan to make life marginally easier, a bigger part of it is simply that he enjoys this weirdly unconventional life they've fallen into. He good at living on the road and robbing nobles. And he prefers the life he and Yevdokiya have made for themselves, where they rely on each other and forge their own way forward. He has a lot of good, useful traits: charming, fast learner, good with knives, quick on his feet in a crisis. Pay no attention to how his overconfidence and inability to leave well enough alone gets him continually into those crisis.

There's this tension between his upbringing and the life he knows waits for them whenever they return to the clan for good, and what's become normal for them within their little life of crime, because he knows he can't balance them forever. Eventually that'll come to some breaking point, but he's been happy to kick it down the road. He's here for a good time, and if that dovetails into opportunity to bring honor and glory to clan, so be it. And if honor is somehow tied up with his sister catching a shard and the pair of them being foisted onto Riftwatch, well, guess that's how the chips have fallen.
