War Table (Defunct)
WAR TABLE (DEFUNCT)

This is a defunct version of this page. For the new version, please go back to the game navigation and choose the War Table link.
Thedas is a big world with a lot to do, and the war against Corypheus has about a hundred fronts, so between major mod events, plot progression takes the form of player plots and plots that originate from divisions and projects. These smaller plots can be anything from negotiating agreements with foreign dignitaries to infiltrating enemy operations to escorting shipments of pedigree nugs through a haunted forest as a favor to an ally. Some of them will directly influence the overarching mod plot; others may just be fun.
Players whose characters lead the divisions and projects IC facilitate plot efforts by setting the agenda for each group's work—they identify the main objectives the team will be focused on and sometimes develop specific plot assignments to accomplish the group's goals.
CLICK HERE FOR THE CURRENT PLOT CYCLE.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
- Read! The divisions and each project have separate comments below explaining what they'll be working on over the coming months. Read up on the ones your characters belong to and think about how they'd contribute. (If your character hasn't joined any division or project, you can join a division by updating your character's info on the taken list or join a project by filling out the form on the corresponding project page.)
- Contribute! Use the provided forms to document the ways your character will be contributing to the objectives—or if there's something else they intend to pursue within the project's scope that isn't covered by those objectives. These can be simple things that will occur in the background of your other RP, like "John is going to research dwarven etiquette to assist the team going to Orzammar," or they can be bigger things that warrant a player plot, like "John is going to assassinate King Bhelen." IC leaders will reply to let you know if their characters wouldn't approve of what yours are doing or to help you if you need help. (You can also reply to other players' comments if you have something to add or suggest, but we recommend making separate OOC posts or using the CR meme for pure brainstorming sessions.)
- RP! If your characters are doing background work, like research or the types of mini-plots we specify don't need plot requests, you can get straight to it (or submit an info request if needed). If your characters are doing something that does warrant a plot request, submit one, and then play it out after we've gotten back to you.
- File a report with the appropriate project or division after a significant plot has been completed. You don't need to do these for research or the kinds of minor plots that don't require plot requests. But reports allow everyone to keep up what's going on in the game—because there is usually a lot—and respond to, reward, or build on your character's efforts in the future. If you negotiate a treaty but don't file a report about it, we'll generally assume that it hasn't happened. And remember that folks who run player plots get bonus AC reward points once a report is filed!
If you have your own ideas for plots pertinent to divisions or projects outside those covered by objectives, or for personal plots that don't fit into any of these boxes at all, you're always welcome to separately submit player plot requests! You can also donate ideas directly to IC leaders or other players if you have plot ideas but would rather not run them yourself. And if you want to get involved in running a project, check the leadership roles list for vacancies in division or project leadership slots.
PROJECTS
HOSTILE POWERS • NAVAL PRESENCE • OTHER POWERS • RED LYRIUM • RIFTS & THE VEIL
OTHER POWERS
OBJECTIVE 2: End the arms trade between Orzammar and Tevinter.
OBJECTIVE 3: Gain access to dwarven routes and access points inside Tevinter.
RED LYRIUM
OBJECTIVE 2: Investigate red lyrium templars' command structure (and continued motivation sources) now that Samson is gone.
OBJECTIVE 3: Replicate creation of red lyrium from normal lyrium to confirm Blight theories.
no subject
DIVISION: Research
PROJECTS: Rifts & the Veil (primary), Red Lyrium (secondary)
BACKGROUND WORK: Cosima is looking more deeply into how the Blight is transmitted based on existing knowledge and background accounts, and is designing potential experiments toward seeing if they can recreate red lyrium in laboratory conditions. (She likely has not got so far as actually working on any of those experiments, and would not want to do so without more team members, but heading that direction.)
PLOT IDEAS: Nothing concrete yet, though I'd love her to be a part of any player or project plots geared toward objective 3. I'll be thinking along these lines.

I think it's known to the Kirkwall outpost post-Nate-cure that Wardens have the Blight — so maybe one of the ways to start getting materials in hand could be to nudge about HOW THEY GOT THAT EXACTLY, WHAT THEY DID FOR THAT.

DIVISION: Research
PROJECTS: Red Lyrium (assistant project leader) and Rifts and the Veil
BACKGROUND WORK: She is deeply interested in confirming Blight theories, and has been accumulating as much research time as possible in preparation for future experiment with other team members. (So she's no doubt conversed with Cosima on the topic, hoping for future collaboration.)
PLOT IDEAS: I'm not sure. With the Grey Warden connection to the Blight, her first instinct is to turn to her order but there's only so much she can share freely. She'll happily throw herself at any alternatives, though I'll need more time to ponder that.

RIFTS & THE VEIL
OBJECTIVE 2: Learn more about the Venatori’s research into rifts and anchors (and keep them from learning more where possible)
OBJECTIVE 3: Investigate Kirkwall’s veil problems and why it might have been valuable to the Venatori in the Dark Future
CORYPHEUS' HISTORY
OBJECTIVE 2: Gain a better understanding of how Corypheus is able to return after dying, and if this can be prevented.
OBJECTIVE 3: Get sufficient detail about how Corypheus was previously contained, under the assumption that it may be necessary to give us more time to work on objective 2.

DIVISION: Diplomacy
PROJECTS: Hostile Powers + Corypheus' History
BACKGROUND WORK: Stuff, things, avoiding all discussion of blood magic. It's safe to assume he isn't doing as much as he should.
PLOT IDEAS:
Anyway, they'd be looking for past mentions to hunt down. Maybe with the war on, art's being jettisoned cheaply to pay for the fight, or someone's dead and they don't know what to do with the collection. For a less passive plot, they could be breaking in somewhere using the war as cover to get their eyeballs on balls.

...and Elven Artifacts, reporting for duty.
Re: knowing about the elfiness of the Orb, our friend Samson would have shared as much as he knew about it, so there's that at least.

But after some furious wiki-ing I do think it might be neat to get them looking at Tevinter stuff for it — and using that to augment their knowledge of its elfyness. Apparently Dorian says in banter at one point there are similar things in Tevinter history called 'somnaborium' or 'vessels of dreams', which seems like potentially a good way for someone to galaxy brain elven dreamers/uthenara (hopefully maybe an actual elf would have that revelation but that's up to our elf players).
Since we don't have a Dorian, maybe that's something they could stumble upon in their hunt for Depictions of Balls. 'Foci' are also a magic thing, apparently, that could be guiding them.
I am pretty into the idea of them looting, but I'm open, especially since I know we have a couple potential looting plots going on for Divine things. Is there anything in particular you'd like to thread out of this?

NAVAL PRESENCE
OBJECTIVE 2: Discover and disrupt Venatori supply routes, particularly along rivers and landings suitable for assault by small craft.
OBJECTIVE 3: Recover the Qunari dreadnought abandoned between Alamarr and Brandel's Reach.
HOSTILE POWERS
OBJECTIVE 2: Improve understanding of Ander/Tevinter tactics, forces, and leaders
OBJECTIVE 3: Identify and neutralize enemy agents abroad

DIVISION: Diplomacy
PROJECTS: Corypheus' History + Hostile powers
BACKGROUND WORK: Stuff, things, I will figure this out (but it's safe to assume he hasn't been doing as much as he should)
PLOT IDEAS:
Anderfels Field Trip
Isaac will be organizing an attempt to deliver Inquisition agents behind Ander borders. He wants them to:
It might be fun to have them duck into the Deep Roads here and there as necessary (and to test whether the Darkspawn surfacing for the fight has cleared some of those out for use).
Thoughts/feedback super welcome — including on dates — I know we're all juggling Divine plot stuff atm and I don't want to overload that.

What's the rough timeline on her stuff rn?
CHANTRY RELATIONS
OBJECTIVE 2: Uncover and collect (and unofficially use) information pertinent to each candidate's suitability to be Divine and her potential treatment of the Inquisition.
OBJECTIVE 3: Extend outreach efforts to Chantry contacts outside Orlais (especially Ferelden and Nevarra) and work to raise support for the Inquisition among congregants there.
no subject
DIVISION: Research
PROJECTS: Rifts & the Veil, Chantry Relations
BACKGROUND WORK: In pursuit of Objective 3, Ilias will be writing to Chantry contacts in Nevarra to try to persuade them of the importance of the Inquisition's mission in the context of Nevarran beliefs, using a mix of theological argument and personal experience, in an effort to raise more support for the Inquisition there. He's reluctant to do much politicking so this may not be super effective, but u kno. baby steps.
PLOT IDEAS: I don't personally have time to run another plot this cycle, but this could easily serve as a launching point if anyone else wanted to run with it! Send some Inquisition members to rub elbows and talk theology with said Nevarran Chantry contacts, or send some heroic types to tell war stories (Nevarrans love a good war story), or get tasked with doing some tedious favor for a Mother in exchange for her extolling the Inquisition's virtues to her congregation, etc.
ELVEN ARTIFACTS
OBJECTIVE 2: Find and acquire more eluvians, and explore the crossroads both in general and as a useful means of transportation.
OBJECTIVE 3: Find, map, explore, and document more ancient elven habitations sites such as temples and things from Arlathan
no subject
DIVISION: Research
PROJECTS: Red Lyrium & Elven Artifacts
BACKGROUND WORK: Merrill has drawings of the eluvians she saw while lost in the Crossroads, and spent a lot of time there (since. she was lost). While she can't make a map of the Crossroads (because Merrill), she can supply information on things she's seen and traverse the Crossroads with others. As an elf, she has much clearer vision within the Crossroads themselves.
PLOT IDEAS:
+ Crossroads field trip! Specifically trying to map the eluvians that they already know of and where they go as of this moment, as well as checking for further Blighted or otherwise Bad eluvians that should be avoided and/or guarded.
+ Willing to go back to the Ruins That Killed Tamlen to
cleanse themlook for further information on their original purpose, since an eluvian was there.no subject
DIVISION: Research
PROJECTS: Elven Artifacts
BACKGROUND WORK: Lea is all over Objective 1, as outlined above. He's recently taken over some space in the Library's main floor storage areas (a modest couple of rooms to start, will probably expand quickly once he gets going) and will be using it to restore, examine, annotate, and archive any artefact entrusted to his care.
PLOT IDEAS:
I will probably not be running any plots myself, and am better at supplementing other people's ideas in general, but,
- dangerous experiments as follow-up to new artefact acquisition
- existing artefacts conveniently going missing for plot reasons
- Random Fade Bullshit again, oh no, how could this have happened
