War Table (Defunct)
WAR TABLE (DEFUNCT)

This is a defunct version of this page. For the new version, please go back to the game navigation and choose the War Table link.
Thedas is a big world with a lot to do, and the war against Corypheus has about a hundred fronts, so between major mod events, plot progression takes the form of player plots and plots that originate from divisions and projects. These smaller plots can be anything from negotiating agreements with foreign dignitaries to infiltrating enemy operations to escorting shipments of pedigree nugs through a haunted forest as a favor to an ally. Some of them will directly influence the overarching mod plot; others may just be fun.
Players whose characters lead the divisions and projects IC facilitate plot efforts by setting the agenda for each group's work—they identify the main objectives the team will be focused on and sometimes develop specific plot assignments to accomplish the group's goals.
CLICK HERE FOR THE CURRENT PLOT CYCLE.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
- Read! The divisions and each project have separate comments below explaining what they'll be working on over the coming months. Read up on the ones your characters belong to and think about how they'd contribute. (If your character hasn't joined any division or project, you can join a division by updating your character's info on the taken list or join a project by filling out the form on the corresponding project page.)
- Contribute! Use the provided forms to document the ways your character will be contributing to the objectives—or if there's something else they intend to pursue within the project's scope that isn't covered by those objectives. These can be simple things that will occur in the background of your other RP, like "John is going to research dwarven etiquette to assist the team going to Orzammar," or they can be bigger things that warrant a player plot, like "John is going to assassinate King Bhelen." IC leaders will reply to let you know if their characters wouldn't approve of what yours are doing or to help you if you need help. (You can also reply to other players' comments if you have something to add or suggest, but we recommend making separate OOC posts or using the CR meme for pure brainstorming sessions.)
- RP! If your characters are doing background work, like research or the types of mini-plots we specify don't need plot requests, you can get straight to it (or submit an info request if needed). If your characters are doing something that does warrant a plot request, submit one, and then play it out after we've gotten back to you.
- File a report with the appropriate project or division after a significant plot has been completed. You don't need to do these for research or the kinds of minor plots that don't require plot requests. But reports allow everyone to keep up what's going on in the game—because there is usually a lot—and respond to, reward, or build on your character's efforts in the future. If you negotiate a treaty but don't file a report about it, we'll generally assume that it hasn't happened. And remember that folks who run player plots get bonus AC reward points once a report is filed!
If you have your own ideas for plots pertinent to divisions or projects outside those covered by objectives, or for personal plots that don't fit into any of these boxes at all, you're always welcome to separately submit player plot requests! You can also donate ideas directly to IC leaders or other players if you have plot ideas but would rather not run them yourself. And if you want to get involved in running a project, check the leadership roles list for vacancies in division or project leadership slots.
DIVISIONS
DIPLOMACY
There are also some collaboration efforts here between different divisions. Hurrah.
Sign up by October 10 by replying to this comment with the form below. I'll pick ASAP and give you the details you need to run the assignment. Anything that isn't claimed will be available afterwards on a rolling basis.
For assignments with a chance of failure, I'll roll on Discord. For things with a chance of failure that changes depending on the team composition, I'll roll and give you the outcome after you tell me who else is on your character's team. And when something has a chance of failure, it means that the main objective will not be successful, but there will still be room for you to handle to that in different ways!

ASSIGNMENT: Nothing Qunpares 2 U
DIVISION & PROJECTS:
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: Small sneaky bard this will potentially cause zero problems at all when all of naval presence want to hide a qunari dreadnought from the qunari that'll be chill. Also did the sort of dealio back before at home in the job she doesn't speak of.
OTHER NOTES: Speaks fluent Antivan, basically looks like an Antivan with an anchor if people shut their mouths around her.

ASSIGNMENT: Shaperate of My Heart
DIVISION & PROJECTS: Diplomacy, Chantry Relations & Other Powers
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: He's a diplomat—probably a real one now, I guess, since he's been doing this for three years and I should stop feeling imposter syndrome on his behalf—and also a scholar with previous experience in Orzammar and with bargaining with other cultures for access to information in general. His specific brand of cheerful gentle handling might not go over the best with dwarves, though.
OTHER NOTES: He's a side character, so last priority if there are more sign-ups than slots!

ASSIGNMENT: Blast from the Pentaghast
DIVISION & PROJECTS: Scouting, Hostile Powers
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: Sneaking! Murder!! Don't have her do anything diplomatic, everyone will regret it! She has a vested interest in Perendale remaining Nevarran as well and might be kind of a pain!
OTHER NOTES: stab??

ASSIGNMENT: Bitter Cetus Symphony
DIVISION & PROJECTS: Research & Naval Presence
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: WELL he was there to discover the glyphs last time so he gets academic dibs, right. also Val is a scholar and while he is a little too much of a dick to be totally pleasant and diplomatic for the document hand-off phase of this, he is usually charming enough to make up for it. he is also skilled with boats. and stuff.
OTHER NOTES: strikes an entitled pose

ASSIGNMENT: BLAST FROM THE P(ENTAGH)AST
DIVISION & PROJECTS: Forces, Rifts & the Veil. so like, totally just here for the free trip.
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: she is SO skilled in sneaking. like she has a blessing she can distribute to help and also a special pass without a trace spell. she can change the way that she looks (and will probably do so if asked so don't worry about a giant qunari). she can make a double to distract everyone! she is very good at forgery, and is weirdly charming for an excitable extrovert that draws dicks on every available surface. she will be the heart of the mission. but she is also surprisingly good at murder, so???
OTHER NOTES: give the people what they want: lizards and pranks
(no subject)

ASSIGNMENT: Blast from the P(entagh)ast, If I Could Churneau Back Time
DIVISION & PROJECTS: Diplomacy/Chantry Relations/Rift & Veil
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: it'd be really sad if the head of diplomacy was unsuitable for diplomacy assignments, eh
OTHER NOTES: hello yes self don't forget you'd like to do things
no subject
ASSIGNMENT: BLAST FROM THE P(ENTAGH)AST
DIVISION & PROJECTS: Scouting, Naval Presence
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: Good orator, FABULOUS murderer. Not spectacular at stealth, but you can't have it all. Very committed to the lessening the complete chaos of everything being on fire in the interests of ultimately being able to take the fight to Tevinter-- uh I mean, to Corypheus-- and will lean on being less of a dick and more of a sensible tactician.
OTHER NOTES: Lol Herian would probably veto this
(no subject)
no subject
ASSIGNMENT: Shaperate of my Heart
DIVISION & PROJECTS: Research / Rifts & the Veil
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: Well he can read.... :|a No, uh. He's a competent researcher, with some familiarity with history & ancestry, and while he doesn't have much experience with diplomacy in formal contexts, he's good at being polite and respectful and not getting in diplomats' way.
OTHER NOTES: He's a side character, so lowest priority! Also I think the Wall of Memories is written in lyrium so if bringing a mage is BAD IDEA maybe leave him at home.

ASSIGNMENT: Blast from the Pentaghast, Churneau
DIVISION & PROJECTS: Scouting, Hostile Powers
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: Great at the sneaking and murdering parts, not naturally a negotiator but capable of being a polite, calming presence in front of fancy people as needed
OTHER NOTES: idk just ONE MORE
(no subject)
Re: DIPLOMACY
ASSIGNMENT: Blast From the Pentaghast, Churneau
DIVISION & PROJECTS: Scouting
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: Adasse is a sneaky thief of sneaking who has also learned how to stab blades into people from the sneaky shadows. Considering the mission includes the need to gather information - he would probably just want to steal whatever they need and then use that to help Lady Aurelia take the day. He will, however, get in line with whatever the others vote on. He
OTHER NOTES: Nevarran is actually a language he speaks.
(no subject)
no subject
ASSIGNMENT: Pentaghast
DIVISION & PROJECTS: Scouting, Hostile Powers & Elven Artifacts
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: Native Nevarran who can deploy little wisp spies/guards for sneaky things. Or he can make diplomats look important enough to have moody but professional assistants by standing behind them, with the bonus of actually understanding people pretty well and being able to observe and give advice or insight afterwards or into their ears, as long as he doesn't have to do any talking to important people himself. He also was involved in the earlier legs of this plotline so he knows what's up.
OTHER NOTES: The major caveat here is that he's at least sort of exiled/the identical twin of a would-be Pentaghast assassin. However, that was like 12 years ago and no one would likely recognize them now that they're all grown up and hairy, so if it wouldn't cause anyone in Diplomacy to have a heart attack, he could go and use another name and put HP's new fake identity training to use and all of that.
no subject
ASSIGNMENT: Pentaghast, or if you need her to fill some numbers, she'll go where she's told.
DIVISION & PROJECTS: Diplomacy
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: Lakshmi is a stealth creeper when she needs to be. So she's good for all sneaking about is required. She can also change on a dime.
OTHER NOTES:

SCOUTING
WHAT: An army marches on its stomach, right? An army the size of the Anders' invasion force requires an absurd amount of resources to keep it up, most of which its been gathering from the areas its been invading (since the Anders has absolutely no resources kept the Blight and dirt). The task the scouts will be given is simple: select an area of land within the boundaries of the Anders' forces, and deprive them of the resources in it. Strip down edible plants, chase off the animals, do whatever is necessary to make sure the Anders soldiers can't use anything there.
WHERE: Northern Orlais, where the Anders invasion forces are
WHEN: Throughout Throughout Harvestmere
WHO: Multiple groups of 1-3 scouts will be sent throughout the month, to try to maximize the amount of damage caused.
[[Note: This mission has a 40% chance of failure, with scaling percentages for how much the scouts manage to wreck before they're caught and have to flee.]]
MISSION: SECRETS SECRETS ARE NO FUN
[Research and Scouting]
This is a joint mission between Research and Scouting, to explore the Shrine of Dumat. More information and sign-ups can be located on Research's post, here.
MISSION: IF I COULD CHURNEAU BACK TIME
[Diplomacy & Scouting]
This is a joint mission between Diplomacy and Scouting, and more information and sign ups can be located on Diplomacy's post, here.
MISSION: AMBUSHING THE ANDERS
[Scouting & Forces]
WHAT: There have been reports of a troop of Anders soldiers, possibly scouts, venturing deep into Southern territory, trying to see where defenses are lightest. No one is sure what they've learned yet, but one thing is sure: None of them can make it back to the rest of the army. A group of scouts and soldiers have been sent to set up an ambush and take them out. Where and how the ambush will be set up is left to their discretion.
WHERE: Somewhere near the current line between Orlais and the Anders invasion
WHEN: Mid-Harvestmere
WHO: A group of about six or so from both the Scouting Division and the Forces Division.
[[Note: This mission carries a 50% chance of failure, with a sliding scale of how successful they are in terms of catching enemies in the ambush, getting away from the rest, etc.]]

The deadline for sign-ups are October 10th.

FORCES
Signups are due October 10th.
Any character may sign up, but preference will be given to Forces members. Characters without any Division will not be sent this round.
Note: Characters are responsible for their choices in a given mission (but not their RNG luck — don't worry!), and may face IC consequences for intentional sabotage. If your character would try something, please make sure that your team is on-board OOC.
Feel free to hit me up (
DEAD OF KNIGHT
Dame Ines, a Chevalier who gained distinction in the Civil War, has offered a personal survey of the frontlines in Churneau. Inquisition members have been sent to meet her to maintain appearances before the Ander army, and to discuss plans to secretly reinforce Ghislain. The problem is: She’s dead. And her troops look guilty.
This mission has a 40% chance of destabilizing the company, rolled for in Discord.
WHERE: Churneau, Orlais.
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: 1 - 3 Characters, at least one member of Forces.
I ♥ FALL
Ghislain was once home to a Circle of Magi. Though unoccupied for several years, the structure is large, old, and potentially magically unstable. It shouldn’t be taken by the enemy. Investigate, and determine how to proceed. Potential approaches include trapping the Circle, clearing it for use as a fortress, accidentally falling through the floor into a giant pit, you know. The usual.
This mission has a 30% chance of attracting enemy attention, rolled for in Discord.
WHERE: Ghislain, Orlais.
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: 1 - 3 Characters, at least one member of Forces.
DANGEROUS GAME
The rich fields of the Orlesian Heartlands aren’t so rich after half a decade of interior strife. Comte Chantral de Velun — a supporter of Gaspard — narrowly survived the Civil War, but maintains a rocky relationship with the throne. He's now attached a number of small, chiefly symbolic demands to his agreement to supply the Northern defense. Among these: to clear a group of bandits from his prized hunting grounds. Isn’t it dreadful, how readily elves resort to crime?
WHERE: Velun, Orlais.
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: 1 - 3 Characters, at least one member of Forces.

RESEARCH
open to: Research members, capped at five people.
The ruling family of Ghislain, the de Ghislains, have a large stake in the city and surrounding countryside remaining unmolested by Corypheus' forces. While the current Duke, Bastien de Ghislain, remains incapacitated by illness, his son Laurent, a devout Andrastian, does most of the day to day work. He has requested that the Inquisition make an inventory of all the various artifacts in his possession, just in case, in return for boarding at the family estate and the loan of several tomes to the Inquisition.
Also of note is Laurent's aunt, the Grand Cleric Marcelline, who is rumored to have more than a few fingers in the selection for the next Divine. She will also be in residence at the estate. Discovering her current leanings and encouraging her sympathy for the Inquisition is highly encouraged.
RIFTCON 9:44
open to: Research members and characters either with a) an academic past or b) ties to Markham or the Free Marches, capped at five people.
The University of Markham is about to host a gathering in protest of the Chantry's recently issued edict that Rifters are not demons. Protesting the edict on the ground that a Divine did not make the ruling, the academics are doing what academics do best, which is getting a bunch of prominent scholars to write thinkpieces and deliver lectures during a gathering at the university. Like-minded clerics and scholars will be attending the event.
Those participating in this mission will decide how best to handle the news, and if that includes attending, will be firmly away from the events in Orlais, safe and sound.
TRAP MAKING, PT. 1
open to: all members of the Inquisition, no cap.
Experiment and improve upon current trap designs, and decide where they ought to be placed to most inconvenience Corypheus' oncoming army. Possibly test them on yourself and or friends, to nonlethal effect, and then scatter them through the countryside.
Participants may also choose to go a bit further in making the countryside inhospitable, such as poisoning water sources etc.
ON THEIR STOMACH
open to: all members of the Inquisition, no cap.
The wilds of Orlais are filled with delicious, wild-growing treats and snacks that could be used to supplement the diet and medical supplies of an army on the move, even if half of that army doesn't eat because they've been turned into Red Lyrium rock candy do not lick. However, most of these plants have les faux amis, such as the poisonous-in-high-doses and diarrhea-in-low-doses cousin of the regular delicious chestnut, the horse chestnut. And who can forget that one plant that looks a lot like elfroot but actually causes a severe rash and bleeding from the nose and mouth? Answer: not you, once you've experienced it!
They may also choose to note the locations of farms and graineries in the area to be set to the torch before the assault.
SECRETS SECRETS ARE NO FUN
open to: all members of the Inquisition, capped at five people.
Intercepted Venatori communications have revealed their interest in a particular area in Northern Orlais. Cross-referencing the map with some earlier ones in the Inquisition's position have revealed that the location is rumored to have a shrine to one of the Old Gods of the Imperium, meaning that it's probably something Corypheus and his remaining general, Calpernia, care about, which means that the Inquisition cares about it too. A team is needed to stealthily infiltrate the area and report back with further intelligence to see if infiltration or out-right assault is possible before the advance of Corypheus' forces.
*** REPORTS FOR ALL ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE DUE BY NOVEMBER 10th, SIGN-UPS CLOSE OCTOBER 10th.
The responsibility of turning in the report is on the leader of the mission. If you are not comfortable with this responsibility (remember, no report means automatic failure of the assignment) please indicate as much in the 'other notes' section.
