War Table (Defunct)

WAR TABLE (DEFUNCT)

This is a defunct version of this page. For the new version, please go back to the game navigation and choose the War Table link.

Thedas is a big world with a lot to do, and the war against Corypheus has about a hundred fronts, so between major mod events, plot progression takes the form of player plots and plots that originate from divisions and projects. These smaller plots can be anything from negotiating agreements with foreign dignitaries to infiltrating enemy operations to escorting shipments of pedigree nugs through a haunted forest as a favor to an ally. Some of them will directly influence the overarching mod plot; others may just be fun.

Players whose characters lead the divisions and projects IC facilitate plot efforts by setting the agenda for each group's work—they identify the main objectives the team will be focused on and sometimes develop specific plot assignments to accomplish the group's goals.

CLICK HERE FOR THE CURRENT PLOT CYCLE.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
  1. Read! The divisions and each project have separate comments below explaining what they'll be working on over the coming months. Read up on the ones your characters belong to and think about how they'd contribute. (If your character hasn't joined any division or project, you can join a division by updating your character's info on the taken list or join a project by filling out the form on the corresponding project page.)

  2. Contribute! Use the provided forms to document the ways your character will be contributing to the objectives—or if there's something else they intend to pursue within the project's scope that isn't covered by those objectives. These can be simple things that will occur in the background of your other RP, like "John is going to research dwarven etiquette to assist the team going to Orzammar," or they can be bigger things that warrant a player plot, like "John is going to assassinate King Bhelen." IC leaders will reply to let you know if their characters wouldn't approve of what yours are doing or to help you if you need help. (You can also reply to other players' comments if you have something to add or suggest, but we recommend making separate OOC posts or using the CR meme for pure brainstorming sessions.)

  3. RP! If your characters are doing background work, like research or the types of mini-plots we specify don't need plot requests, you can get straight to it (or submit an info request if needed). If your characters are doing something that does warrant a plot request, submit one, and then play it out after we've gotten back to you.

  4. File a report with the appropriate project or division after a significant plot has been completed. You don't need to do these for research or the kinds of minor plots that don't require plot requests. But reports allow everyone to keep up what's going on in the game—because there is usually a lot—and respond to, reward, or build on your character's efforts in the future. If you negotiate a treaty but don't file a report about it, we'll generally assume that it hasn't happened. And remember that folks who run player plots get bonus AC reward points once a report is filed!

If you have your own ideas for plots pertinent to divisions or projects outside those covered by objectives, or for personal plots that don't fit into any of these boxes at all, you're always welcome to separately submit player plot requests! You can also donate ideas directly to IC leaders or other players if you have plot ideas but would rather not run them yourself. And if you want to get involved in running a project, check the leadership roles list for vacancies in division or project leadership slots.

NAVAL PRESENCE

[personal profile] foxsays 2018-09-22 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Assignment: Better lifeboats
WHAT: After the red lyrium kraken in Llomerryn and the escape from Minrathous, the need for sturdier boats is clear. This means crafting and testing better lifeboats, with volunteers required for both.
WHERE: Kirkwall docks
WHEN: Harvestmere
WHO: 4-5 Naval Presence members, everyone can bring +1 of their CR so long as it makes sense to do so! Desired skills include swimming, knowledge of sailing, carpentry and/or shipbuilding

Assignment: A Map of Where We've Been
WHAT: A map has been turned in to Naval Presence, or half of one. It supposedly leads to a supply cache or an important drop-off point - our do-gooder isn't quite sure but the second half has to be found. From the signatures on the map, it's in the possession of a woman rumoured to be in Kirkwall now! But she's put her seafaring and lawless days behind her, traded the spyglass in for vestments having joined the Faith. (Or has she?)

Oh and the other half of the map? It's on her back. For safekeeping. Good luck, Andraste be with you.
WHERE: Kirkwall
WHEN: Harvestmere
WHO: Naval Presence, the suggestion of at least one person from Chantry Relations or who has a good relationship/knowledge of the Chantry. 3-4 people suggested.

Assignment: A Bad Case of Crabs
WHAT: The remains of Old Smithy the Crabber washed up. Mostly they recognised his boots and his jerkin really, there wasn't too much left. The story being bandied about by the fisherman and Lowtown is that a giant mother crab from the Wounded Coast took exception to him nipping her nippers and nipped him right back.

You've got license to krill (yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah). (You know, if you do see any giant crabs, we're talking about well-pickled fishermen and his well-pickled friends, anyone can fall out of boats and it's not like crabs are going to be picky are they?)
WHERE: Kirkwall/The Wounded Coast
WHEN: Harvestmere
WHO: 2-3 Naval Presence members, everyone can bring +1 of their CR so long as it makes sense to do so!

If you're interested, please sign up by September 30th!

HOSTILE POWERS

[personal profile] exequy 2018-09-22 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
THE BLACK DIVINE
WHAT: The Black Divine's status and stance on Corypheus' takeover of Minrathous are currently unknown, and determining whether he's a potential ally or a definite enemy is a priority. Getting into Minrathous would be too difficult, and none of the Inquisition's potential allies there are in a position to spy on the Divine or get that sort of information out of the city. But quietly speaking to Imperial Chantry officials in more accessible cities might shed some light on the situation. The success or failure of this mission will be rolled for, with 25%, 50%, and 75% chances of things going wrong in each successive city.
WHERE: Marothius, Perivantium, and Carastes.
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: Assigned to one person, who can bring up to three other people with them. Requires a mix of sneaking and diplomacy skills, plus the ability to travel in Tevinter without drawing too much attention. Project members have priority for sign-ups, but otherwise open to everyone.

THE SLAVE SITUATION
WHAT: While slaves are a likely demographic to have problems with Tevinter being overrun by those seeking to restore Tevinter to its former glory—a glory built largely out of bloodshed—they're not a monolith, and the involvement of some apparent slaves in the Venatori coup in Minrathous warrants investigation. A few Inquisition members will be assigned to travel to Vol Dorma under cover and linger long enough to gain and understanding of scope of slaves' unrest or cooperation with the Venatori, while keeping an eye out for potential allies or inroads. As this is purely an information-gathering endeavor, it won't fail, as long as nobody does anything stupid.
WHERE: Vol Dorma.
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: Assigned to up to three people, who can bring up to three other people with them. Requires primarily stealth/acting skills and the ability to hang out in hostile Tevinter territory without being noticed. (Anchors are fine if they can be kept covered.) It may require faking slave and slaveowner relationships, so it also requires an OOC ability to do that with sensitivity and respect for the subject matter. I.e., if you use this for anything sexy, I'll destroy you. Project members have priority for sign-ups, but otherwise open to everyone.

ANDER DESERTERS
WHAT: A half-dozen Ander soldiers previously made contact with the Inquisition, attempting to desert and offering information on the Ander military and general situation in exchange for amnesty. The Inquisition was willing to entertain the offer, but the group never showed up to meet with the contact who was going to guide them through the Hunterhorn Mountains to safety, and that contact soon went silent as well. A team will be sent to try to track down either the contacts or the deserters, or ideally both, and to extract them from the Anderfels if possible. The success or failure of this mission will be rolled for, with a 60% chance of failure if no one on the team speaks Ander and a 40% chance of failure if someone does.
WHERE: The Hunterhorn Mountains.
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: Assigned to one person, who can bring up to three other people with them. Requires tracking skills; could culminate in a diplomacy, combat, or stealth-based resolution depending on what the person in charge wants to do. Project members have priority for sign-ups, but otherwise open to everyone.

CUT OFF SUPPLY ROUTES, PART 1
WHAT: Tevinter's trade with Antiva and the rest of Thedas is split between trade by sea—which requires navigating around hostile Qunari vessels—and trade by land. One of the quickest land routes to Antiva is through a passage in the Hundred Pillars, the only one wide enough to allow larger merchant caravans to safely pass. Blocking that passage won't prevent goods from being passed between the two countries, but it will make it a slower and more dangerous undertaking. And doing it without making it clear that the Inquisition is responsible is key, since Antiva might yet be an ally but might also object to having its trade interfered with before it agrees to anything. The success or failure of this mission will be rolled for, with a 20% chance of failure.
WHERE: The Hundred Pillars, west of Marothius.
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: Assigned to one person, who can bring a larger team if they want. Their mission is to make the passage unpassable by whatever means are at their disposal, with no particular requirements, but possible methods include using magic or physics to collapse parts of the road, filling it with so many traps it becomes a deathtrap, hiring and suppling mercenaries or bandits to keep an eye on the road and hassle any with more goods than refugees would be carrying, etc. Project members have priority for sign-ups, but otherwise open to everyone.

CUT OFF SUPPLY ROUTES, PART 2
WHAT: Tevinter's trade with Antiva and the rest of Thedas is split between trade by sea—which requires navigating around hostile Qunari vessels—and trade by land. One of the other quickest land routes to Antiva is to skirt through the foothills of the Hundred Pillars, near the Arlathan Forest—which, like most forests, is occupied in part by Dalish elves, who might be persuaded to focus their attention on that region and help make passing through it a dangerous prospect. Unfortunately for the Inquisition, the Dalish in Antiva are known to be significantly more hostile toward outsiders than anywhere else in Thedas, so talking to them in the first place is a tall order, let alone getting them to agree to anything. The success or failure of this mission will be rolled for, with a 60% chance of failure if no elves go along, a 50% chance of failure if elves do go but none of them are Dalish, and a 40% chance of failure if at least one Dalish elf is there.
WHERE: The Arlathan Forest.
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: Assigned to up to one person, who can bring a larger team if they want. Some tracking and stealth may be required to find the Dalish clan, and diplomacy skills won't hurt after that. Project members have priority for sign-ups, but otherwise open to everyone.

A BETTER MAGEBANE
WHAT: According to the (former) Archon, a Seheron apothecary is rumored to have been developing a recipe for magebane significantly more potent than what is available in the south, at the Archon's own request, for Seheron natives to use against the Tevinter mages and Qunari Saarebas. Assuming that's true, the Inquisition would much rather have the recipe than potentially allow Corypheus (or the Qun, for that matter) to obtain it for use against Inquisition mages. A team will be dispatched to Seheron to find the apothecary, determine the state of her research, and extract her from the country if necessary and possible. This success or failure of this mission will be rolled for, with a 50% chance of failure.
WHERE: Seheron.
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: Assigned to one person, who can bring up to three other people with them. Requires a degree of subtly in order to navigate Seheron, which is a dangerous place, and find a person of interest without drawing attention, and the ability to not die if caught in the crossfire of the Tevinter/Qunari conflict wouldn't hurt either. Project members have priority for sign-ups, but otherwise open to everyone.

Sign up by September 30 by replying to this comment with the form below. I'll pick ASAP and give you the details you need to run the assignment. Anything that isn't claimed as of September 30 will be available afterwards on a rolling basis.

For assignments with a chance of failure, I'll roll on Discord. For things with a chance of failure that changes depending on the team composition, I'll roll and give you the outcome after you tell me who else is on your character's team. And when something has a chance of failure, it means that the main objective will not be successful, but there will still be room for you to handle to that in different ways!

CHARACTER: Hanzo Shimada
ASSIGNMENT: The Slave Situation
DIVISION & PROJECTS: Scouting, Corypheus' History and Hostile Powers
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: Hanzo is 100% stealth based. He is an assassin by trade and has learned how to move in and out of places without being discovered. With the acquisition of his new specialisation he will be able to be a touch sneakier and be able to move around without too much risk of being seen. Also, being Tevinter born, he has an intimate understanding of the nature of the slave trade there and would be able to both look and act as a Master. Since he was one, once. He also speaks both Trade and Tevene, which would come in helpful.
OTHER NOTES: He's doing his best.

CHARACTER: Anders
ASSIGNMENT: Ander Deserters, A Better Magebane (equal priority)
DIVISION & PROJECTS: Research, Corpsy Histy, Hostile Powers
SUITABILITY & APPROACH:
-Ander Deserters - he speaks Anders, and initially he'd want to take a diplomatic approach. He'd definitely try to pick someone good at diplomacy to help buff the abilities there.

-A better magebane - Anders is good at finding his way through unfamiliar territory and holding his own in a fight, as well as supporting others in said fight.

OTHER NOTES: Regarding the magebane mission, he'd have a vested interest in this recipe not being used against the Inquisition... but with that said he'd also have a vested interest in the recipe not being completed and given to anyone. Which means he's entirely up for failure if failure means she winds up dead and her research destroyed.

CHARACTER: Connor 60
ASSIGNMENT: The Slave Situation
DIVISION & PROJECTS: N/A atm but I've asked that he be signed up w/ Scouting.
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: Connor was essentially a slave, and has never broken his conditioning. He still believes that humans are/were his natural masters and that he was created to be efficient and obedient, to hunt his own when they rose up against their creators. IC this means he would have an easy time of passing as a slave, and of gaining the confidence of slaves who are cooperating with the venatori. He also finds comfort in having a task and not questioning it, so he'd go along with the mission to the letter even though I'm hoping it shakes him up a bit inwardly. His long-term goal is breaking this conditioning but I don't want him to do this without setbacks. This would provide opportunities for him to work at it.

He was a detective and seemed to be skilled in diplomacy and stealth. His inclination would be to whatever approach is safest since he's very concerned about being injured or killed now that he is no longer an android that can be repaired/have his memories backed up.

OTHER NOTES: Since Connor (and me!) are new, I'm putting him forward as a tag-along rather than someone leading the mission.

DIVISION & PROJECTS: Diplomacy, Hostile Powers & Base Operations soon
SUITABILITY & APPROACH: Max has acting skills, speaks decent Tevene, and has experience with slavery in Tevinter. She's not at all open about her personal history or excited about putting herself at risk, BUT if teams are being put together she'd want to make sure the information is successfully acquired and nobody screws up and gets themselves in trouble. She'd cite her familiarity with the slave trade in Nascere as evidence of her suitability.
OTHER NOTES: She has a good understanding of why slaves might be wary of the whole rebellion idea, so she might be good for talking to the kinds of folks who are less eager to speak openly about that kind of thing? But she's prooobably best paired with people who actually believe resisting the Venatori won't just get a bunch of slaves killed. Also: I'd be game for her tagging along vs. leading a mission if that makes more sense.

CHANTRY RELATIONS

[personal profile] frprojects 2018-09-27 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
DELIVER A MESSAGE TO PROVISIONAL GRAND CHANCELLOR PASCAL
WHAT: The invasion of Orlais and emergence of Corypheus in Minrathous have together stoked what was previously steady but disorganized pressure to elect a new Divine into something more urgent, and it is increasingly likely that the College of Clerics will get its act together and convene to choose a successor in the foreseeable future. Seeker Pentaghast and Sister Leliana have both been approached about their potential candidacy, and both have decided unequivocally that they will not accept nominations while Corypheus remains a threat. They've asked the Chantry Relations team to deliver their joint refusal in person—both as a show of respect and as an opportunity to speak to the provisional Grand Chancellor directly and see what can be discovered about other likely successors.
WHERE: Val Royeaux
WHEN: Harvestmere
WHO: 2-4 project members, who may enlist outside assistance from one other character apiece but will be accountable for the behavior of whomever they take with them. This assignment could involve diplomacy, sneaking and snooping, or a mix of the two.

RECORD RIFTER ABILITY INFORMATION
WHAT: Per the agreement made with the Chantry, rifters who have abilities natives do not—and native mages who have abilities unknown to the Circles—are to have their names and those abilities recorded, and the records kept by both the Inquisition and the Chantry. The Chantry Relations project has been tasked with collecting this information, to the best of its ability.
WHERE: Kirkwall
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: 2-4 project members. They may enlist the help of others, but project members must oversee and personally vouch for the accuracy of all information collected.

EVACUATE THE CHANTRY IN MONT-DE-MARC
WHAT: The town of Mont-de-Marc is just south of the Blasted Hills, and has taken in a great many refugees from that region as the Ander army has moved in and darkspawn attacks have increased. Their numbers are now too great to keep everyone fed and safe, but the roads are too dangerous for them to travel alone. An Orlesian army patrol attempted to make the journey to assist, but never made it, and Mother Hortense has now appealed to the Inquisition for assistance. This assignment has a 50% chance of failure, which will be rolled for on Discord!
WHERE: Mont-de-Marc, in the Blasted Hills, in Orlais
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: 4-8 people. Open to all, but priority given to project members. Those who can fight and heal would be particularly recruited to help ensure the safety of the party and the evacuees.

Sign up by September 30 by replying to this comment with the form below. We'll provide further details ASAP. For assignments with a chance of failure, we'll roll a die on the Discord server before providing you with details. PERSUADE ORZAMMAR TO MAINTAIN ROUTES TO TEVINTER
WHAT: Orzammar has delegates placed at a number of underground embassies in Tevinter, including the Ambassadoria in Minrathous and smaller outposts throughout the country, each connected to the great thaig by networks of crumbling Deep Roads and little-known narrow passageways that are rarely traversed except by quick and highly trained messengers—but nonetheless provide a way to get information and possibly even agents in and out of Tevinter's occupied cities. A team will be dispatched to Orzammar to meet with King Bhelen and discuss the possible use of those passages, which will likely include doing some favors and meeting some counter-demands in order to untie (metaphorically) his hands.
WHERE: Orzammar.
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: 2-4 project members, who can each bring along another person of their choice as long as they're willing to be accountable for that person's behavior. The assignment will require primarily diplomacy, but other skills to assist in completing favors both above-board and below it would be useful as well.

INVESTIGATE QUNARI REPORTS OF BLOOD MAGIC
WHAT: The Qunari settlement at Kont-arr has passed along a message: they've heard reports that one of the region's local nobles has been acting strangely, and their own surveillance suggests he's allowing a party of mages to live in his castle and have the run of the place. The Qunari would prefer not to jeopardize their own relationship with Rivain, and they want to test how the Inquisition manages rogue mages, so it's asked them to look into the situation. This assignment has a 50% chance of failure (or at least going very badly), which will be rolled for on Discord!
WHERE: South of Kont-arr, in Rivain
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: 2-4 people with preference for project members, who can each choose another PC to rope in with them, provided that they're people the Inquisition would not be irresponsible to send. Per the rules negotiated IC, since this is a mission to deal with rogue non-Venatori mages, at least one Templar, Seeker, or Loyalist mage would be recruited to lead the group. If a PC who fits those requirements isn't included, an NPC will have to be taken along instead.

RESCUE TRAPPED MINERS
WHAT: A party of dwarves working beneath the Vinnmarks has been trapped by a series of cave-ins. A local spelunker heard their cries for help and brought the message to the Inquisition, who must help find a way to get them free before they run out of air. Moving the rubble safely is one problem, but getting the dwarves to take the path you clear is another: they're from Orzammar, and they're not eager to give up their caste by coming to the surface, even to save their own lives.
WHERE: The Vinnmark Mountains northeast of Kirkwall.
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: 2-4 project members, who can each choose another PC to rope in with them.

RIFTS & THE VEIL

[personal profile] frprojects 2018-09-27 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
SEEK OUT MISSING WOMAN WITH ANCHOR
WHAT: The Inquisition has received a letter from a young man pleading for assistance in locating his fiancée, who was struck with an anchor approximately three months ago. She left, telling him she would seek help from the Inquisition, and since then his letters to Skyhold have gone unanswered, until someone finally responded to tell him that no one by that name had ever reached them. A team will be dispatched to track her down, beginning by visiting her hometown to speak with her fiancé and family. This assignment comes with a body horror warning.
WHERE: The Bannorn, Ferelden.
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: 2-4 project members, who can bring one additional character apiece. This assignment comes with a body horror warning.

SURVEY RIFTER ARRIVAL SITES
WHAT: While the Inquisition has obviously visited known rifter arrival sites, the steady expansion of the range in which those arrivals occur has caused renewed concern about how far they may begin to appear and the possibility that some rifters may arrive behind enemy lines. A team will be sent to revisit a few of the closest locations where rifters arrived to conduct a few arcane tests and take some more organized and cohesive notes on natural features or anything noticeable about the areas, in case there are any unifying characteristics of the locations that may make predicting the sites of long-term future arrivals—or even controlling them—more feasible. (This will be a fairly low-key assignment unless you want to add your own obstacles, like highway robbers.)
WHERE: Various.
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: 2-4 project members, who can bring one additional character apiece.

CLOSE A RIFT IN SELENY
WHAT: A rift has opened in the marshes and swamps near Seleny, a fair distance from any settlements but near enough to a frequently traveled road to cause concern. A team will be dispatched to close the rift, and will encounter a surprise—not a very pleasant one, not like a big cake or anything—when they get there. This assignment also comes with a mild body horror warning. This assignment has a 50% chance of failure (or at least going very badly), which will be rolled for on Discord!
WHERE: Antiva
WHEN: Harvestmere.
WHO: 2-4 project members, who can bring one additional character apiece. Ideally at least three characters with anchors will be included, but if not enough characters with anchors are "available" to close the rift, we'll be able to provide an alternative route.

RED LYRIUM

[personal profile] aceso 2018-09-28 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
THE LADY'S NEW NECKLACE
WHAT: Ever since the Inquisition's stop in Llomerryn revealed that pieces of red lyrium were being sold by merchants, it's been a project of several scouts to track them down. It's now been confirmed that Lady Babette Fontaine of Val Foret, Orlais is in possession of a piece that she's had made into a necklace. It's imperative that the Inquisition confiscate this necklace before it causes serious harm to the Lady of those around her.
WHERE: Orlais
WHEN: Harvestmere
WHO: 1-2 Red Lyrium Project members, each able to take a non-project member if they choose, as long as the person is briefed on the dangers of handling red lyrium.

FIELDS OF RED
WHAT: A small village in Orlais has reached out to Inquisition scouts to ask for help in removing red lyrium from their fields. The Red Templars had starting sowing the soil, but had to retreat to the Anderfels with the rest of their Order. While the Inquisition should definitely remove the red lyrium, they should also convince the farmers to leave the ground fallow for a season and monitor it to make sure all the red lyrium is gone. There will be some resistance, but should the Inquisition provide good arguments, the farmers can be swayed.
WHERE: Orlais
WHEN: Harvestmere
WHO: 2-4 people, including at least one Red Lyrium Project member, and non-project members as long as the person is briefed on the dangers of handling red lyrium.

BARTRAND'S FOLLY
WHAT: The Gallows' location places the Red Lyrium project in close proximity to the first known sighting of red lyrium—the ancient thaig now known as Bartrand's Folly, where Marian Hawke and Varric Tethras first came across it. With the Red Templars' attempt at major mining operations foiled, it's particularly important that smaller sources of red lyrium be destroyed or protected from exploitation to prevent them from finding a way to continue operations.

Skyhold has asked this project to send a team into the Deep Roads to relocate the original source of the red lyrium idol that corrupted Meredith Stannard, determine whether or not the thaig is being exploited, and take necessary steps to make sure that it cannot be in the future.
WHERE: Deep Roads (Bartrand's Folly)
WHEN: Harvestmere
WHO: 3-6 people, including at least one Red Lyrium Project member, and non-project members as long as the person is briefed on the dangers of handling red lyrium.

CORYPHEUS' HISTORY

[personal profile] overharrowed 2018-09-29 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
FROM THE BOTTOM UP
WHAT: Warden Larius, who worked with Hawke to try to kill Corypheus, is one of the last people left who may know how Corypheus went from “dead and captured” to “alive and not captured.” Skyhold found a lead connecting Larius, who disappeared into the Deep Roads, to red lyrium smugglers. Infiltrating the smugglers may get us some information on Larius’ whereabouts.
WHERE: Tracking them down will be half the fun, right? We have a lead on Larius’ last known location, which should offer a starting point.
WHEN: Harvestmere
WHO: 1-2 Corypheus’ History members; participants can recruit +1 of their CR each so long as they fit the mission brief. This will be a subterfuge mission, and the people who go should be able to credibly impersonate smugglers long enough not to get caught. (Ideally, they’ll also be able to defend themselves if things go pear-shaped.)

FROM THE TOP DOWN
WHAT: In a secondary pass at figuring out where Warden Larius is and what his deal might be (see above), project members will work on intercepting messages or correspondence from the leaders of the smuggling group, since new recruits are unlikely to be taken deeply into the leaders’ confidence right away. Such interception can be done directly (if discreetly), or can be arranged by leveraging trustworthy contacts along trade or messaging routes who might be willing to help.
WHERE: Finding the smugglers is, again, part of the challenge, though we do have Larius’ last known location to build on.
WHEN: Harvestmere
WHO: 2-4 Corypheus’ History members. Depending on how you decide to approach it, relevant skills may include scouting, forgery, theft, diplomacy, networking, or some exciting combination of the above.

EAR TO THE GROUND
WHAT: While the Magisterium's library in Minrathous likely has some of the best information about Corypheus, it is obviously not accessible at the moment. What may be accessible, however, is notes from scholars who have previously seen books in the Magisterium’s library. Such reports might have actual information of use in a best-case scenario, but even if there are accounts that merely verify that such information exists, it may point future research in a fruitful direction.
WHERE: Can be done from Kirkwall, though if participants want to do fieldwork, they are welcome to do so.
WHEN: Harvestmere
WHO: 1-3 Corypheus’ History members or members of the Research division. Relevant skills include an ability to read a lot of very dry, scholarly writing; research skills, and ideally familiarity with more than one language to facilitate them; possibly the ability to write charming and/or persuasive letters to scholars or nobles known for their private libraries.

ELVEN ARTIFACTS

[personal profile] writteninblood 2018-10-01 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Electric Eluvian Boogaloo Bash
During the Grand Tourney, Alexandrie de Fontaine persuaded Guieffroy Loupe to give the Inquisition use of a fortress he owns in the Hunterhorn Mountains. While ordinarily of little use, it's at risk of soon being behind enemy lines, which allows for a disadvantage to be turned to advantage. Skyhold is asking us to do whatever is necessary to place an accessible eluvian in the fortress before movement through the region becomes impossible. This will give the Inquisition a backdoor to get behind enemy lines and serve as an experiment for the feasibility of using eluvians for faster transportation across Thedas in general.

To pull that off, the project will, obviously, need at least two eluvians: one to place in the fortress, and another to keep at the Gallows.

Team One: The Jailbreak Jitterbug
WHAT: The call goes out to those who may be in possession of Eluvians, or the knowledge thereof, to lend their precious artifacts to the Inquisition's needs. Quietly. Very quietly. For this mission, you'll need to deliver the request to the following Inquisition members and supporters without being seen or overheard. Player-Characters will have their own opinions, but are members of the inquisition. Please ask Morrigan and/or Merrill to lend the use of their precious elven artifacts to the Inquisition's use for this endeavor, and do your best to convince them. You will be provided with a small discretionary fund to support these efforts and to compensate the Inquisition's eluvian-having allies for their assuredly temporary and not at all permanent generosity, which has a definite end-date, at some point.
WHEN: Harvestmere
WHERE: Kirkwall
WHO: 1-3 people, at least one of whom ought to be a member of the Scouting Divison. Cannot be part of "Team 2"

Team Two: The Heist Hula
WHAT: With success as a mandate, and on orders from Skyhold, native elves will use the Lights of Arlathan and the various underworld connections to locate and extract working Eluvians from at least one target for Inquisition purposes. Since this mission is of the utmost importance, we need to get those Eluvians quickly and by any means possible— if they can't be convinced to part with their prizes, they must be coerced, bypassed, or otherwise overridden. But, it's better to do this quietly, and without a fuss; possibly without even exploring the diplomatic option first. Use your best judgement and do not fail.
There are two potential targets:
Option A: A wealthy collector of oddities and self-proclaimed naturalist who has an Eluvian as a prized part of his extensive private collection.
Option B: the estate of a Ferelden noble with too much money, too many dogs, and some real mean-spirited locks. He keeps his Eluvian in his private chambers. For some reason.
WHEN: Harvestmere
WHERE: The Free Marches, Northern Ferelden
WHO: 2-4 People, at least one of whom ought to be a member of the Scouting Divison. Cannot be part of "Team 1." Please include your preference of heist target when signing up.

Team Three: Scoutin' Samba
WHAT: This is a two-part mission. With at least one eluvian acquired and another identified as a potential target, a team will enter the first eluvian and attempt to emerge on the other side. They will enter the crossroads, experience the supreme weirdness of them, and deal with three (3) random terrors from a handy-dandy random encounter table. If and when they emerge victorious, it's time for the whole team to pack up and take a field trip to Orlais! Traveling in secret to a hidden fortress in Hunterhorn Mountains, along the way they will encounter a further three (3) random hazards from the random encounter table, and must cope with them while maintaining the integrity of the eluvian, the secrecy of the mission, and the timetable of the move. They will then need to hide the mirror and escape like the dirty sneaks that they are.
WHEN: Harvestmere
WHERE: Orlais, The Crossroads Between Eluvians
WHO: 2-5 People, at least one of whom ought to be part of the Scouting Division. Can also be a part of either "Team 1" or "Team 2" Please include the results of 1 D4 die roll when signing up.
